National History

Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was founded at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by Geeta Kapur, Natalie Barker, Peggy Long, Melissa Murchison-Blake, Brenda Eribo, Katherine Stanley and Janelle Poe. The Founders sought to create an inclusive sisterhood and transcend traditional boundaries with the creation of a new Greek letter organization that would embody the ideals of scholarship, service, sisterhood, leadership, and multiculturalism. Despite being met with significant concerns about the viability of such an organization, the Founders held strong to their beliefs and pushed forward in creating the Sorority. Through their commitment and dedication, the dream of founding Theta Nu Xi came to fruition on April 11, 1997.

The Xi Rho Graduate, Alumnae and Professional Chapter history begins in the Fall of 2013. Several Theta Nu Xi sisters in the Colorado region, who joined the organization by way of the Alpha Zeta Chapter at the University of Colorado at Boulder became determined to bring a GAP Chapter to the state. Recognizing a continued desire to be involved with the organization and with each other, the women recruited and sought out the requirements to found the chapter. After several months of informal meetings and documentation preparation, the following sisters submitted a petition to the National Organization, becoming the co-founders of the Colorado GAP Chapter: Miranda Aragon, Christine Thai, Hannah Dillon, Shantell Fedder, Kenaya Camacho, Renee Roberts and Farrah Qureshi.

On November 18, 2013, the Colorado State GAP Colony was officially established, and was later formally recognized as the Xi Rho GAP Chapter. The organization now serves as a strong community and home to many new sisters who have graduated from local undergraduate chapters or have relocated to Colorado. As a chapter, we aspire to transcend multicultural boundaries and be leaders in our community.
